Poonawatta Estate, the cornerstone of which is ‘The 1880’ Shiraz, produced from .8 of a hectare (two acres) of original vines planted in 1880. To the best of their knowledge the 7th oldest Shiraz vineyard in Australia, and the 2nd oldest in Eden Valley after Henschke’s Hill of Grace. This small vineyard consisting of 912 weathered vines produces low yields of premium fruit for their flagship wine. With around 2000 bottles produced each vintage.
